pay it forward pressies

I have been busy making the pay it forward pressies, I have almost got them finished, they are half wrapped soon ready to go and anextra pressie as a surprise for someone.

I also got 2 prints framed this week and hung them on the wall

Little boy, on seeing the keep calm and carry on said 'does that mean when we're fighting we should keep calm and carry on?' Children have such great perspective.

Bought this spotty paper today, it's meant for origami, which I am hopeless at, it's too mathematical for my brain, but just thought it would be good for 'arty' stuff.

Planting veg

This week we have been trying to make the garden nicer. We have tried to make a mini allotment at the back of the garden. It was a right mess before but now it looks like this:

We have planted tomatoes, peppers, salad leaves and herbs, more to follow soon. We are very pleased. I think it looks good. I have been doing loads of sewing but it's all top secret as it's either for pay it forwards or mini quilt swaps. So cannot show any sewing.

It is another skirt to make. It is designed by a fab artist called Rob Ryan, he does the most amazing screen prints. He must have the patience of a saint, I couldn't sit still that long. Apparently you can have the hem scalloped or straight, can't decide which to do. We have been working in the garden, it has been a right mess since we had the back fence done at the end of last year and the back part was just awful. So we have now got some wooden boxes with grow bags in and are going to make a sort of allotment and grow our own veggies. Show more when it's more presentable! Have also been sewing, but can't show that yet.

mini quilt swap

I have signed up for Lucy's http://lucylocketrecycledherpocket.blogspot.com/ mini quilt swap but I'm such a clot at adding the above picture in the sidebar. I couldn't do the other badges either. If any one has typepad and can tell me how to add it I would be grateful. Anyway I am really looking forward to making a mini quilt. I have made mini pictures but not really a quilt. Does a quilt mean padded? or pieced together? Just looked it up in the dictionary. Quilt:coverlet, esp. made of padding enclosed between two layers of fabric and kept in place with lines of stitching. So there you go, if you didn't know.

I have been goccoing today. I bought the gocco printer ages ago but just haven't got around to doing it. So bigger boy and I spent the day having fun. We took ages deciding on what to draw and then came up with this: mine

So a big Thank you Sara. It was for leaving a comment on Sara's 200th post. I love the brooch, I put it on straight away and am still wearing it. Now I must make something with the fabric. I have not been sewing much as I am still trying to finish reading the book for the book club, but it is Easter holidays for the children for the next 2 weeks, so I am hoping to do some creative things. I plan to use the gocco printer. I can't believe I still haven't got around to using it. Watch this space, for gocco news! Have a good weekend everyone.

wii,wii,wii

I have not been blogging because I have been doing too much wii-ing!! One boy has saved up for this for his birthday, and we have been doing this, I don't usually like computer games but this is so much fun, and keeps you fit too. Back to sewing soon, it's the start of the holidays now so hope to get some bits n bobs done.

busy, busy,busy but no piccies.

Just to say I haven't vanished, just been busy. Had 6 boys sleeping over Saturday night, oh the noise! oh the lack of sleep! oh dear I must be mad! then have had a sick boy, sore throat, cough etc. So consequently haven't got anything to show and nothing much to say. Except thank you to those of you that signed up for pay it forward... you know who you are...I had better get making gifts to send.x

It is for a book club I belong to and I need to finish it by next week and it is 936 pages long. I am on 460 so not even half way, so sewing is on hold. although I do have things to be doing, 2 baby cards to make etc etc.
